"The Years After Cancer - Never give up - Dream Big"

Few big positive thoughts today 5/5/2022. This is always a big day of gratitude and reflection for me. (Twenty-three years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer) What I have learned, believe and have experienced first-hand in the 23 years since that diagnosis - You are the master of your own mind and thus your destiny. If you believe you, cannot you will not! Keeping your vibration high is key, low vibes energy makes you susceptible to all manner of things- self-doubt, low self-esteem and weakens your immune system. You defiantly can have whatever you want or your reasons for not having it! Do what makes you happy. If something is not making your heart sing, be brave enough to walk away. Know your worth and have faith that all will be well and all will be well and all manner of things will be well... Be open and keep your vibes high and all kinds of people, opportunities, miracles and ideas will come flooding to you. Being closed down just blocks the good stuff. Take action on your brilliant ideas. I am totally in the Richard Branson camp in regards to Failure (It took a couple of failures before I fully embraced this) “Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them, and start again” Morning meditation (creative visualization) sets the tone for your day. You get to an age where you have enough life experience behind you to know you will be ok, the evidence is all there in the things that have happened – You survived and thrived! There is a power or a source which connects you to infinite intelligence if you keep that connection strong you will enjoy a brilliant, high vibes connection “a delicious in road” to your higher self (your best friend) your intuition. Our intuition is god’s way of talking to us. Vibration operates on frequencies- Keep your frequency high and tuned into what I like to call (Abundance FM) Thinking won’t overcome fear but action will. Perseverance can overcome all obstacles (Never give up)

Hope some of the above resonates with you today and helps in some way with whatever is going on in your life. Life is a roller coaster, as the saying goes, filled with great times, harsh times, challenges, love, loss, laughter, joy, success and everything in-between. If we can see beyond the challenges (AND YES! I know this is not always easy) there is usually a rainbow waiting to guide us. For the 20 years before my cancer diagnosis, I had run my own very successful day spa, the appointment book was fully booked every day a year ahead (Just as I had imagined it would be when I planned to open my first business) I had a small vegetarian bistro, my business was a hub and the “Go to” place for so many happy customers for their beauty/wellbeing treatments. I had also began spa consultancy as a natural progression in my career. Cancer hit and for me it was the catalyst to follow the dreams I had for my next chapter, which was to become a successful Spa & Wellness Consultant in the Caribbean, creating authentic award-winning spas, products and treatment rituals… The pictures on my social media today are a snap shot of the past 23 years! Keep your belief in your dreams strong, follow you bliss, know your worth and most defiantly keep your vibration high. I am ready for the next chapter, its already there in my imagination.  To quote Albert Einstein “Imagination is everything it’s the preview of life’s coming attractions”

Creating - A positive, passionate, inspirational, holistic home office space

I recently did a simple little Instagram post regarding working from home. The desk top inspirational, mindfulness & wellness tools I use to get me fired up for a day at the “home office” (pardon the pun) sparked a lot of interest and got a lot of you fired up as well. What followed that post was an unexpected barrage of PM asking me lots of questions – “How do you do it Linda, successfully work from home?” “How do you keep focused, stay inspired, actually do the work?” “How do you keep to a routine without getting side tracked with the home stuff?” Well, in all honesty, I have a head start on the working from home lark! I have been setting up home office spaces for over 20 years. As part of my job, I travel a lot and my office space can literally be anywhere. I create wellness spaces/spas globally that always feature key positive elements for wellbeing, mindfulness and inspiration. I prioritise and incorporate these key elements naturally when I create any kind of space for myself, or spa project, regardless of how big or small. My career/job involves a lot of travel, however when at LH-HQ, wherever that happens to be in the world, it’s about making a sacred, productive happy space. Sometimes my office can be a hotel room for a 6-week period. (A key thing for my productivity is to “nest” in the space that will become my work space, make it my own) Owing to the pandemic over the last 12 months, more people are now working from home and are having to carve out a work space to make their own. I thought about the questions asked since that post and felt it warranted a full explanation on my blog/news page to fully address, and hopefully inspire.

There are disadvantages & advantages to working from home. For some, the whole experience might feel lonely, isolating and stressful - they might thrive working in a busy environment. For them, the office work life is all about being social, they struggle working alone. For others it might be just what they have always wanted to do and they relish working alone. There are key factors that will help make working from home successful, not disastrous and you can turn the disadvantages into advantages.

A few things I will say from the get-go, it’s essential that you create your own structure, have a daily schedule and work with good time management. You need to put clear boundaries in place between professional and personal lives and send positive messages to your subconscious. These elements will ensure success. All sounds a bit like work doesn’t it? However, I want to make working from home fun and productive, not fearful and overwhelming. I am sure once you try out some of my tips for working from home successfully, you will incorporate them into your life as we move forward and come out from under the big grey cloud that is Covid!

Keeping motivated, focused and not distracted can be a constant challenge. So whether you’re working from your kitchen table, dressing table or coffee table, my aim is to give you some tools to help you create a space that optimises mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing. Basically, “setting the creative working scene” by incorporating colour, lighting, accent pieces, visuals, daily scheduling (good time management) self-care rituals and some happy holistic tools in order to create an ambience that will make you feel happy throughout your working day and beyond! “Creativity flows when you’re feeling happy!” Its key for me to keep my working space as holistic, bright and lovely as it can be. (Believe me when I say I have worked in some harsh environments, as well as luxurious places. However, I still adopt the same strategy to make the best of the situation I am in) Your environment has a significant effect on productivity, moods and motivation. In a nut shell, and for starters, here are my top tips for creating a workspace that inspires your productivity and makes your heart sing. One key thing I want to stress, and it might sound a tad boring, but organisation is key! Think about it like this – whether you’re doing a speech, presentation or cooking a new dish, if you’re not prepared or haven’t planned ahead, it usually turns out to be a total disaster…

One other thing before we get started – Wearing your pyjamas to work? Would you? Then don’t! It sends a disastrous message to your subconscious! You “dress for work” and I would suggest doing the same when working from home. I am not suggesting you put on your uniform, one of the advantages of working from home is that you can adopt a more casual dress code, but adopting a dress code for your home work life is sending the right kind of message to your subconscious.“That you’re going to work” It’s tempting to stay in your pyjamas, however trust me, the message you’re sending to your subconscious is not a good one and it will limit your productivity and eventually make you feel totally out of balance. At the end of my working day I take off my comfortable working clothes and slip into my relaxing leisure clothes so there’s a distinctive mental and physical disconnect between work and play… It works trust me.

Ok, let’s get to it – my tips for creating a positive, passionate, inspirational home office space. I could have broken this post up into several blog posts, however I wanted to give you it all in one go so you have a complete detailed formula from which to pick and choose from.

Get yourself some desktop buddies – The beautiful inspirational  desktop buddies I shared on that post (Buddha, Crystal Goddess statue, Crystal Tree of Life, Aromatherapy Diffuser, Inspirational Quotes , these are there to support me during the day) They work for me as part of my personal belief systems, they lift me up, help me focus and support the creativity of my working day. I also have a mini dream board on the wall at the side of my desk, however that’s just for me and wasn’t featured in the post. (I have covered dream boards in previous posts and will be doing a bigger blog post just before the Spring Equinox.) You will have your own delightful objects, the ones that just looking at make you smile, help you catch a five-minute meditation, regain focus and bring you inspiration and peace. In all I do, I aim to create a positive environment. I would advise you to do the same (there is enough fake news and fear inducing stuff out there, you have a choice not to buy into it) During times of stress, anxiety and uncertainty, having supportive positive tools to call on will get you through. Try to limit your use of social media, especially during your working day. If you do have to tap in, try following posts that have positive content. I follow some great accounts that feature inspirational quotes, poems and beautiful images, life affirming positive stuff. *For some, your working lives are social media, however we still have a choice around the content we support and follow.

Aromatherapy - As a clinical Aromatherapist and Natural Product Developer, I create aromatherapy lifestyle products for my own brand, personal prescriptions for private clients and I create brands for other companies. Essential oils have been part of my life for over 40 years, they are always present. In its simplest form, aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to promote and sustain the health and wellbeing of the Mind, Body and Spirit. They are highly concentrated aromatic plant essences, the hormonal life force part of the plant,  ‘it’s essence’ if you will. I cannot imagine my life without essential oils as part of my wellness regimes. In the spas I am partner or consultant with, we start the day by setting the scene with our seasonal essential oils. The aromas waft from the spa, enticing guests to come and visit. Creating an aromatherapy “Pied Piper” effect, everywhere smells beautiful. Ravishing the senses is part of creating a successful environment, whether spa or office space. As soon as you inhale a pure essential oil, whether as a single note or synergistic blend, you automatically feel better. The reason for this is simply explained - they enter the blood through the capillary network and circulate throughout the body affecting the brain via a very clever membrane located at the top of the nose called the olfactory system. This consists of the olfactory bulb, sensory cells and supporting cells. The bulb detects the smell by means of the sensory cells and sends the smell sensations from the nose to the brain, therefore affecting a person’s emotions and thus their quality of life. As such, people gain tremendous benefits in terms of emotional wellbeing and stress relief from incorporating essential oils into their lifestyle program. More on the physical benefits in further blog posts. You can also purchase my three signature aromatherapy blends - Rapture, Restore and Release by visiting the online shop on this website.

Mother Nature - If possible I like to add flowers and plants to my home office space. Adding that touch of nature, bringing the outdoors in with plants and flowers is fundamental for me. Houseplants purify the air, remove toxins and provide that beautiful green energy, flowers are just pure inspiration at any time. Taking your eyes off your computer screen and gazing at mother nature’s bounty lifts your vibration and helps spark creativity. I often take photos to post and share of my flowers, plants, cooking success and anything I think will be good to share to pass on the positivity.

Mirrors - Depending on the size or your space, mirrors will open things up and create a feeling of the space being bigger, giving the illusion of having more space. This is even better if your mirrors reflect the outdoors. My current UK home office space is tiny, it’s a 3ft x 3ft corner of my living room. So, if yours is bigger than this you have no excuses in being able to add in more motivational stuff. However, if your space is small - the kitchen table, a table in the corner of the living room, the coffee table, you can still make it a really powerful space by adding touches that make you feel inspired, empowered and create the illusion of more space. (If its possible, change things up during your working day, making the space yours when you’re working in it)

Screening - If you can, its important to screen off your office space. I step out of my small office square and mentally think of it as leaving work. The screening separates this corner from the rest of the room. Look for light and easy screening. If your space is too small, don’t try and section it off by using harsh solid screen structures. I found some fantastic retro sliver hanging screens from The Range. They’re cheap, cheerful, light and totally functional. It was easy to fix these to the ceiling in 3 minutes and straight away you have your office space feeling private and office like! I used the screen as the picture for this blog post - what do you think?

Step away – At the end of the day when I switch off my lap top and office lamps, I step out and mentally focus on leaving work. The fact my space is tiny is irrelevant, it’s a screened off space and is not entered into again until I enter that work space the next day. Another tip, like making the beds before leaving for work, make sure your desk is clear and clutter free. Clutter can increase anxiety. Coming into work next day, (or be it coming into your designated office space at home) as with coming home to your bed all made up, dishes done and as in this case, your office space all clutter free and inspirational will mean you’re good to go. You get a sense of inner peace and contentment.

Routine and structure - These are important elements to success when working from home. You need to establish a routine and you know what I am going to say, “stick to it!” Remember a routine doesn’t have to be boring, the best rituals can be mini slots throughout the day to step away and mentally recharge, they are your gift to you and a way of nurturing yourself as a reward. I find it I don’t have structure and routine it limits my productivity and adds to my stress levels. When you actually go out to work you tend to be more organised because you have to be. Try to adopt a similar routine that will send the right messages to your subconscious. You might usually take a healthy packed lunch, bottled water, gym gear etc. You might prepare your evening meals so that they are ready for you when you get home, as already mentioned above, coming home to unmade beds and a sink full of dishes does not bode well. These things might go by the wayside when working from home, DON’T LET THEM… Having a work structure in place when working from home is vital. If you set things up ahead of time as you would if you were going out to work, there is less chance you will get distracted by doing other things and the work tasks go out the window and that leads to overwhelm. Prepare what you can. Having a small tray of healthy snacks, water and fruit near your desk and lunch prepared means you’re more likely to eat and drink healthy and not be tempted to go in and out of the kitchen where so many things will distract you. Now, with that said, my next tip may sound a little contradictory! Break up slots - At various intervals throughout the day.

Break up slots - My working from home daily routine/schedule adds in break up time slots or rituals that allow for exercise, wellness and mindfulness activities. This can be as simple as a little mini meditation or guided imagery visualization for 10/15 minutes, a walk or a bike ride to the local shop. EXERCISE (Zoom is the new norm) now that I have got used to doing classes in a limited space and don’t decapitate my Buddha or send ornaments flying across the room anymore. I am loving exercising from home now, especially during this long, long winter lockdown, when I would normally be defrosting the car before I even get to the class. The uplifting energy high I feel after a class in just incredible. Whether I am doing a Barre class with the amazing Tracy Whitehead, feeling like a happy five year old in a pink tutu, a hip shaking dance class getting my Shakira on, or a Seasonal Pilates class Guru of all things fitness Sandie Keane, the high is the same. I go back to my office and the creativity flows. I treat the exercise class like I would if I was working in an office and going out for lunch or a break to do a class - its factored into the day the same way. See links below to my favourite teachers (who just happen to be my dear super talented goddess friends!!) Also, for those missing the social interaction with others, these exercise classes are a great way to connect with people. All the trainers I know leave some time at the beginning and end of the class for everyone to have some “hello” time. Other wellness rituals/breaks include stretching every hour, a body scan; this is a powerful way to spend 5 minutes or longer just checking in mentally to whats happening in my body. There is a saying “Where the mind goes energy flows.” It might sound a bit naughty and decadent, but having a bathing ritual in my lunch break is defiantly one of the advantages. In the fast pace life we are all used to we feel we have to be busy all the time. If you’re not, you feel guilty! You can mix things up and still be productive! You can change the way you view breaks in your working day. For example, lunchtime might be the perfect time to get a few extra household chores done, therefore giving you more time in the evening? Learning something new as part of your break up time slots - I have just registered for a 12-month course with Babel, their lessons are just brilliant. A 15-minute lesson waking around either indoors or outdoors with the headphones on learning a new language is fantastic.

There are lots of perks working from home that allow for a balanced, productive, wellness working structure. If you put in the important planning to start with, then productivity will flow…  You’re the producer of your own workday movie. Be prepared, get things ready the night before to set yourself up for success. This will allow you to take care of yourself so you feel nurtured, prepared and confident. As I said ealier, you can turn the disadvantages into advantages. You no longer have the daily commute, that morning time can be used for journaling, meditation, reading a couple of chapters of a positive book, exercise or a walk. Make the most of this gift of time that was once spent on your daily commute to work. With a structure in place, you can mindfully whip up a delicious carrot cake in your lunch break or put a wash on in between zoom meetings. Getting out on your bike is easier because you are at home and your bike is there also. Having a cheeky afternoon aromatherapy bath is “no problem” now you’re at home. Things that would usually have to be put off untll the end of your day can now be added into your working from home structure. Because you have planned for productivity, things will get done, which will allow you extra time to take advantage of the time you have at home.

I don’t have children;  I know for many the new normal will involve working at home with your children and partner. However, I think lots of the tips above could be taught to children to help make their home schooling life more productive and less stressful. Introducing them to wellness and mindfulness activities as above could be life-changing for them. Just before Covid broke out I introduced my godson to the joys of crystals and essential oils and he took to it like a duck to water. He has told me since how much he loves his crystals and carries the quartz tumble stone I gave him around in his pocket, taking it out to look at when he feels anxious! He also told me enthusiastically how the “cool smells make him feel happy.” And that’s what it’s all about - finding things that make us feel less anxious and happy.

Making "You Time" for self-care has a powerful, positive impact on our mind/body/spirit health & wellbeing

My key career role and part of the creative process I love is producing beautiful, natural aromatherapy spa products and de-stressing, recharging, holistic spa rituals to be enjoyed and indulged at Spas globally.... The last 11 months has given us so many reasons to be stressed, fearful and anxious. During times of acute stress and uncertainty our bodies/mind/spirit craves routine, structure, stability and nourishment. Somethings we have all missed during the long lockdowns ticks all the boxes above. Its those spa trips, beauty salon sessions, hairdressers chair “down time” all those little luxuries we afforded ourselves as part of our regular wellness self-care routines that gave us our stability, wellbeing and nurturing. One big positive out of the pandemic is that it gifted/forced us with the opportunity to take a break, take a breather, slow down, this time has ignited a new found passion for home care routines/rituals and to really see the benefits of self-nurture. There are so many reasons why Self-care is a Necessity and Not a Luxury and why there has never been a better time to make self-care part of your physical/wellbeing, lifestyle practices...

Remember after the first long lockdown and your first visit to the spa or salon for a facial, massage or trip to the hairdressers? A real lesson in “attitude of gratitude” and total appreciation for those routine parts of life that we might have taken for granted.

Making you time for self-care through amazing rituals like facials, massage, reiki, reflexology, hair & scalp treatments, exercise and meditation has a powerful positive impact on our mind/body/spirit health & wellbeing. I know once we are safely out the other side of Covid we will flock back to our spas, beauty therapists, hairdressers, holistic practitioners and gyms again. They will be our “go-to” to bring us back to balance. Until we are out of lockdowns lets practice time out every day to dedicate to our self-care rituals at home.

Now those who know me understand that my feel-good, self-care, home rituals could be: lavishing my hair & face with my Revitalising Butter with Hemp, enjoying a glass of bubbles (alcoholic or none) in a Rapture bath; a Restorative Face Mask and an episode of The Discovery of Witches; a full moon meditation; journaling; or a zoom exercise class with one of my very talented fitness goddess friends (Have to say my flat is tiny, which turns any zoom exercise routine into an acrobatic feat! Performing - Seasonal Pilates with Sandy or Barre with Tracy in my tiny space calls for some creative moves to navigate the furniture)

If you want some spa/wellness homecare inspiration look no further than this Aquarian Goddess. I am going to share with you a few SPA CONSULTANT/NATURAL PRODCUT CREATOR SECRETS for some “top to toe” home spa indulgence rituals to help you achieve solace, peace of mind, calmness and inspire you MIND/BODY/SPIRIT…

37 Years Ago - 5th September 1983

37 years ago, today I started my own business… I joined the ranks of the “Self-employed” – The Brave Entrepreneurs - The Mavericks - Pretty fluffing amazing! As my friends in Jamaica would say “Big Up Yourself”

In the seventies and from my working-class background no one told girls at school they could have a meaningful lifelong career, still less run their own business…  My advice to young women wanting to start their own business today with all the fantastic global tools at their fingertips and drawing from my funny, amazing, harsh, brutal yet brilliantly rewarding career journey (No regrets whatsoever by the way) would be –  Dream very fluffing big, anything is possible, you don’t get there on the first class train in the early days, however  you will arrive at your destination and it will feel fantastic... Never sell yourself down the river, know your worth- even when you don’t have a £ in your bank account, go for it, plenty will want to exploit you, make you feel less than the amazing unique creative person you are. Be clear on what your offering, never lose sight or focus on your “why” who you are and what your business (you aim to achieve) Ride the storms, there will be many, lick your wounds, go within when you need to, ask yourself the questions and don’t allow yourself to be defeated, sometimes we can be our own worst critic. There is no such thing as a mistake. Every decision you make is a learning experience, and the only real mistake you can make is not to try in the first place or be defined and kill yourself (mentally) over your  perceived  failures (sometimes these so called failures can take you down and I mean really take you down) the light at the end of the tunnel goes so close to being out that in your mind that’s it, your crap, you totally doubt yourself, spiral into periods of awfulizing “I am not good enough, look what I did wrong blar, blar, blar” Fluff it get back in the fluffing saddle girl!  At least you had the balls to own your own businesses – you went for it; you took that big risk in the first place. Learn from these experiences and don’t stay down for long, if you do it’s so much harder to come out from under that cloud, get your ass up and get back out there. Tap into that goddess intuition which is there just wanting to support you every step of the way, to help you, guide you. Don’t wait for the right moment to start. As Richard Branson says “Screw it just do it” The longer you wait the harder it becomes to start. If circumstances prohibit you from starting, then do something towards that start. (This applies to starting your business or coming back from a SETBACK)

Next year I celebrate 40 years in the Spa & Wellness Industry. It seems like only yesterday, I still feel that optimism, passion and joyfulness (and adrenalin rush) that absolute self-belief I had back then. I think that’s the marker for a career, taking risks and going for it as - A well-made decision. No excuses – Screw it just do it!

SEPTEMBER 2020

Energetically - Spring & Autumn are my favourite seasons. Both gift us with very clear unmistakable vibrations and ancient messages. The powerful pull at these times connect us with our relationship to the environment around us and our path, our purpose in life. They are dynamic seasons which have a powerful effect on almost everyone. For me, the months of March & September signify the feeling of “anything is possible” - they are big months of change, when the seasons transition. September’s transition is from Summer to Autumn.  On Tuesday 22nd September we celebrate the Autumn Equinox a brilliant Pagan festival, when the sun crosses the Earth's equator from North to South, this only happens twice a year and I passionately celebrate all the Pagan festivals!  I have been known to wear white and walk into the ocean and float flowers on the sea under the soft glow of the moon as the women do in South America to celebrate this time by offering gifts to the great Goddess, mother nature, who, at this time is beginning her decent from Earth into the deeper depths of the underworld. This is a purging, cleaning time when it’s good to decide what we want from life and what we don’t! The equinox marks the time when daylight and night time are approximately the same length, there is a spiritual shift and you can totally feel it. When day and night are at their most equal, the feeling is tangible... I am already working with that powerful balance today (1st September) The smell of Autumn is in the air and there is something reassuring and very persuasive about that. September, like March, always has that effect on me – “A call to action”. After the year we have all been through, lockdown, unprecedented upheaval, juggling all our emotions, loss, work/business issues, out of work, family, finances, loss of identity, and experiencing fear in every area over our present & future, balance is something we all need right now.

It might be reassuring to think about it this way. Remember, how as a child/teenager/student/parent, your year began in September with the return to school after the long summer break? (Admittedly - 2020’s break has gone on for a long, long time!) You felt excited, it was seen as a time of organisation, of preparing for the future, a time of a higher level of organisation, decluttering, full on business, timetables, time management, the urge/need to "learn something/do something new". I love the back to school, new academic year vibe... Everything about it is a prompt for letting go for change, for renewal. The activity in the fields is busy, the farmers are flying around country lanes (sometimes scarily) in their tractors, busy sorting out the fields, harvesting and getting ready to sow their winter crops. It's a dynamic season which has a powerful effect on almost everyone. Back to school, back to work, back to reality, back to what we want, back to whats really important... Covid is not going to take away whats important to us. Now more than ever we will have a real sense of what that is, what is really important, what really matters to us. We can use this natural time to let go, to cleanse, purge, declutter and decide what we want from life and what we don't. There is so much about 2020 that we need to let go of, so much fear and pain, however there is also much to be thankful for and there is so much to plan for. Nothing stays the same in nature, therefore we can hardly expect ourselves to be the same month after month, year after year. I hope the world will have matured and grown after this year of Covid. I hope we will seek new ways of caring, of kindness, with different goals in place to move forward with integrity. We cannot stop or turn back the clock; we need the constant flux & flow so we don’t stagnate, but we can learn. When the flow is vibrant, healthy and in balance, we move forward in a beautiful way and the world becomes quite literally, an amazing place. Happy September x

Taking "Baby Steps" Breathe and connect with what feels right for you.

Getting back to our pre-pandemic life is something most of us want to do or at least the good parts of our lives, taking the positive lessons learned since March 2020 with us into our new normal. I for one began to appreciate the opportunity of a quieter, slower life that the break from our busy day- to-day lives offered (It might sound crazy but the last time I gave myself permission to slow down so much was back in 1999 when I was diagnosed with cancer. I went from working a 7-day week to 4. I did change my life dramatically after that and thankfully I am still here to tell the tale. My life work balance is much better (always room for improvement) and just prior to Covid I was revisiting/scrutinizing all again (I tend to do this “big time” every 20 years, when I am ready for the next chapter!) Covid just heightened/clarified whats important as it has for most of us. The break this time didn’t last too long for me (Part of my job was to start working on Spa & Wellness Guidelines to be fully prepared for when my industry would be able to open again) which meant days filled with global zoom and conference meetings and then typing Covid, Covid Covid over and over till I just couldn’t type the word again for over a week. However, the shift and break in general business commitments afforded me with time to focus more on my creativity outside of business, which sometimes goes on the back burner. I was able to revisit projects and pick up on things I had wanted to do for some time which was brilliant.  During that still, noiseless month (April) I was able to wake up and smell the roses, muse, ponder, just sit, look up at the amazing clear blue sky and just be!

If we look for the positives to come out of this situation (always there in any situation) and take those pearls of wisdom and insights with us as we move forward, I think the world can be a better, kinder place. We are far from out of the woods with all this chaos (negative) yet we are moving from the initial shock, doubts, and fears into other stages of the grief cycle. Now, hotels, spas, restaurants and gyms and most businesses are starting to open again which is fantastic for the economy and every person on the planet who has been hit financially (positive). It feels like we are starting to take those big steps and now things feel like they are starting to move forward fast (too fast for some) it feels too soon. Whilst some people do the right thing (about ¼ of the population) the rest seem to think the rules and Covid19 does not apply to them (Big Negative). I see it every day and cannot understand how they don’t seem to care about the rest of society? If we plunge back into the depths of Covid in the winter, sure these people will have blank expressions and blame everyone but themselves. I know people who are just to afraid now to step out into the world and have completely retreated and I totally get that. Those beautiful people I delivered medication/shopping to during the last 5 months have become very fearful and institutionalized, they just dont feel safe or have the desire to go out, this is so sad to see. They have sacrificed and done the right thing for the greater good and now they are stuck in this limbo place. If they do venture out and see so many doing the wrong thing it begs belief “What was 22 weeks of isolation/shielding for? To save their lives yes! To help the NHS yes! To save others’ lives yes!

Moving forward with gratitude that we still have the gift of life when so many have lost theirs and being respectful, mindful, aware, and doing the right thing is the way forward. It is the only way to respect those who sacrificed, who lost their lives and to rebuild society. While the world is taking those massive steps towards “Normality” it’s perfectly acceptable for you to take “Baby Steps” be kind to yourself, trust your judgement and do what feels right for you. Work for me didn’t really stop and I have returned to elements of my work that had to stop, however two pre-pandemic lifestyle steps for me this week. First day having spa treatments yesturday, first day back at the gym and doing a BARRE class today. Did it feel good? Yes, it did, great.  Was it different? Yes, it was! At Barre with only 3 in the class and all the H&S aspects in place it was very strange however I totally loved the feeling of doing something that was a joyful part of my lifestyle routine. Tried zoom online classes which are brilliant if you have the space my apartment is tiny therefore, I decapitated my buddha and knocked over a vase of flowers doing Pilates… Not Good! On my way to my exercise class today I felt like the first day at school not knowing what to expect. “Baby Steps” Breathe and connect with what feels right for you.
