Basil

Has a fresh sweet and slightly spicy aroma, with light balsamic undertone. The sweet and herbaceous uplifting aroma  can both lift one from melancholic depression and bring clarity to a confused mental state. Generally used as an antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, pain reliever, decongestant of the veins and antibacterial. The oil's capability to improve memory and sharpen the mind has been praised in India since old. Basil’s possible neuro-regulating properties make it an excellent choice for support of mild nervous disorders, stress and anxieties. It is noted as a natural nerve tonic, with the ability to be stimulant and/or restorative depending on the body's needs. It works as a brain and memory stimulant and soothes stress, depression, and mental fatigue. As an external application on the hair and scalp it is said to stimulate growth and condition hair. Basil is also indicated for urinary infections, rheumatoid arthritis and insufficient digestive enzymes. Good for tired, overworked muscles, as a mouthwash for mouth sores and infected gums, for chest infections and digestive problems. Basil Essential Oil has been referred to as “the royal oil to strengthen the mind and heart” and to reinforce resistance against infectious diseases. Basil is also noted as an emmenagogue (induces menstruation).
